In winter, Langis on the Glaubenberg Pass above the Sarnersee lake, is a paradise for cross-country skiers, winter walkers and snowshoe trekkers. In the warmer months, the protected high moorland is an insiders’ tip for nature lovers.

The Glaubenberg Pass (1543 m) is a small pass from Sarnen (OW) to Entlebuch (LU). Langis is located just before the head of the pass on the Canton Obwalden side, a cross-country skiing paradise in winter, a moorland landscape of considerable importance in summer.

A postbus route serves Langis from Sarnen. The Glaubenberg Pass is closed on the Lucerne side in winter but access is possible from Sarnen. A mountain inn with restaurant provides plenty of refreshments for visitors. The little-known valley, the Grossschlierental, leads in a wide arc from Langis down to Sarnen and Alpnach.


SUMMER


hikers, walkers, mountain bikers and mushroom gatherers, anglers and stargazers all treasure the unspoilt natural landscape on Glaubenberg. At the same time, it is protected moorland of national importance, where for example black grouse have found one of their few places of refuge.


WINTER


Langis boasts the longest linked network of cross-country skiing runs in Central Switzerland. It stretches 30km through a wonderful landscape of protected high moorland. The area is also popular with snowshoe trekkers, winter walkers and sledging fans. However, downhill skiers and snowboarders are limited to a 300m-long skilift although this is floodlit at night.
